Restore Balance, Improve Well-being

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing; reducing stress in your life can be key to optimising good health and building resilience.  Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person.

Reflexology is based on the principal that within the feet, hands and face are areas that relate to all parts and systems of the body, and that by using specialised massage techniques on these reflex areas we can help the body to attain a state of homeostasis, or balance by stimulating the sluggish and calming down the overactive areas.

The benefits of Reflexology are enhanced by the one to one attention and supportive touch in an empathetic listening environment.  It can be undertaken safely alongside conventional healthcare to provide better health.

What to Expect

We will start with a consultation to gather essential health and wellbeing information.  Reflexology is a very easy therapy to receive; depending on the type of reflexology, the most clothing that will have to be removed for a treatment to take place will be your socks and shoes.

The therapist will then use their hands to apply pressure to the feet, lower leg, hands or face, depending on the type of reflexology chosen.  You may feel areas of transient discomfort during the treatment, but generally the experience is very relaxing.

How will I feel after a Reflexology Treatment?

It is useful to give feedback to the reflexologist as this may show the response of your body to treatment.  This in turn will aid in the tailoring of a treatment plan specific to your needs.

After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very noticeable way.  Most people note a sense of wellbeing and relaxation; however, it is possible you may feel lethargic or tearful, but this is usually short-lived and reflexologists believe that it is part of the healing process.
